I absolutely agree! I'm fascinated by this book, almost at the very end but want to share my thoughts at this point. It all makes great sense. I am a "believer", as Christian. However, I've always felt that there is truth in all faiths (much to the chagrin of some of my more devout Catholic friends), and never threatened by science ("... how we describe what we've observed... not the why and how..."). For me, this gives me the very foundation of God, Higher Power, etc. A universal source of energy that resides in Every Thing. (Pointing to the vibrations described by New-Agers, The Holy Spirit of Christians, etc.) Maybe in the evolution of man, primitive religious beliefs also evolved as the only way to begin to describe this latent energy most people acknowledge as existing in some form but cannot understand as a tangible thing. It would explain the ability of psychics, who for whatever reason in their own development have mastered the ability of tapping into the "quiffs and wavicles" of that universal energy, as well as premonitions It would also help to make sense of life's meaning... to learn to tap into this universal energy and maybe start using the other 90% of our brains (another 10-20% would be huge progress!) and to "be all that we can be" to steal a jingle from the army! How about karma? If we potentially are a composite of energy that has resided in other individuals at other times, then why would one not be able to tune into that as well? I'm going to delve into what is known about Christ's teachings; so far, I've found nothing in his words that points to a rabid religious pursuit, or obedience to any man-made structure. I think upon a second look, one will find with Christ as with Buddha and all the others, suggestions that point in this direction instead, but have been grossly misunderstood and manipulated. I like the idea of an abundant and accesible universe for all who aspire to it.
